Frequently Asked Questions
Common Concerns
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping to gain from the experience, and I'll explain how I work. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. It's a gentle introduction to the process at a pace that feels right for you.
That's completely okay, and many people feel that way. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Part of my role is to help you explore what's going on in a way that feels manageable. We'll go at your pace and follow what feels important to you.
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in our sessions stays between us. The only exception would be if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, in which case I have a professional duty to inform relevant agencies. If this is the case, I will always let you know first so you can feel safe and informed.
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. We'll agree a regular time that works for you. The length of therapy overall varies from person to person. Some people find a few months helpful, while others prefer to work together for longer.
Sessions are £60. Payment is due on the day of each session, either by bank transfer or cash if preferred. Two months' notice will be given in advance if fees change.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice are charged at the full session rate.
